General Information and Overview
This course examines our culture through the lens of classic myths, legends, and folktales. The presentation is both thematic and chronological and may emphasize either classical or American cultural foundation.

The English department, high school, and district 214 have approved all literature and movies used in this course. If any parent of students would like an alternative assignment, please contact me.

Homework/Late Work
All homework is due at the beginning of the period unless otherwise specified. If assignments are not handed in when I collect or check them, they will be considered late. There will be no late homework assignments accepted.
If you have an excused absence, it is your responsibility to ask me or a trustworthy classmate what assignments and class work you missed. You have one day to turn in the assignment to me.

You will lose one letter grade for every day that the assignment is late. I will not accept any work that is more than one week late.

89 – 80 B
79 – 70 C
69 – 60 D
59 - 0 F

Keys to Success
- Have responsibility and take pride in your actions, thoughts, and work.
- Always complete work and assignments the best way, not the easiest way.
- Participate in class.
- Write down all assignments, their due date, and time it will take to be completed.
- Get help from classmates, not their homework.
- Follow the class’ expectations.
